Going away for a walking or camping trip? Unsure if you’ve got everything ready? Well, check out the kit list below for your guide on what to get.

Please ensure all personal items are named or personalised to ensure that they’re not mixed up.


  • Neckercheif
  • Sleeping bag
  • Carry/Sleeping/Camping Mat
  • Nightwear
  • Underwear
  • Change of clothing and footwear
  • Plastic plate, bowl and cup
  • Knife, fork and spoon
  • Washing kit and towel
  • Warm jumper or thick sweatshirt
  • Plastic bags to keep wet kit in
  • Any medicine
  • Spending money


  • Neckercheif
  • Walking trousers (not jeans, joggers or jeggins – these get wet easily and stay wet)
  • Walking boots with ankle support
  • (minimum of) 2x Walking socks
  • Shirt & jumper
  • Good waterproof cagoule & waterproof over trousers. Waterproofs must have taped seams
  • Plastic survival bag
  • Personal first aid kit
  • Emergency whistle
  • Rucksack for day hike & liner/dry bag (not bin bag)
  • Butty bag (with lunch & emergency food like high energy bar)
  • Drink bottle (with drink)
  • Flask (with hot drink)
  • Head torch (and spare batteries)
  • Any medicine
  • Gaiters
  • Navigation compass
  • Spending money

In Spring / Summer

  • Sun protection cream
  • Hat
  • Sunglasses

In Autumn / Winter

  • Hat, scarf & (minimum of) 2x pair gloves

Note: We are unable to gaurentee the safety of items such as mobile phones, music players etc. This is due to insurance restrictions – we do not have insurance for personal items.
Please do not allow your child to carry these items with them on our trips away.
